Basil:

Flowering period: July to October
Category: biennial herb
Family: Lamiaceae
Habits: I like warm and sunny places, the soil should be fertile, and it is difficult to germinate below 20 degrees
Cold resistance: weak
Plant height: 50~80cm
Propagation: sowing (belongs to medium-sized seeds, can be sown with seedling blocks or hole trays, 2 seeds per hole, or live broadcast), cuttings
Suitable temperature for germination: 20~30 degrees
Germination time: 5~10 days
Suitable temperature for growth: 20~35 degrees

Three essential conditions for seed germination: temperature, light, and moisture
Temperature: Generally speaking, the germination temperature of vanilla seeds is between 20-30 degrees, depending on the species. For example, the germination temperature of lavender is 28-30 degrees. For mint, it can be at 20-25 degrees.
Illumination: According to the light requirements for seed germination, it is divided into three types: good light, light-averse and concurrent light. Good light means that seeds must be exposed to light for germination, and light-averse means that seeds must be covered for germination. Under germination and photophobia, the germination of seeds does not have strict requirements on the light. Common herbs are generally light-aphobic seeds. That is, the seeds do not need light to germinate.
Moisture: During the germination process, the seeds must have sufficient water to complete the whole process of germination.

Post-sowing management:

For sowing, the seed box should be placed in a cool place without direct sunlight. The box can be covered with glass or plastic cloth, and then opened after the seeds germinate. Seeds that need to germinate in the dark can be covered with a layer of black cloth or newspaper. Watering should be done with extreme care so as not to wash the seeds away.
